Jennifer & Simon’s Harmony of the Seas Wedding
We eagerly awaited this wedding for many reasons, firstly being that Simon is my brother and we absolutely adore Jennifer and secondly that it was our first international wedding!
What better way to start our journey into international wedding photography than this! It was certainly a grand occasion on none other than the biggest, most luxurious cruise liners in the world. The Royal Caribbean’s “Harmony of the Seas”
This ship was an amazing vessel. It boasted carousels, water slides, central park and the boardwalk, rock climbing, spas and hot tubs, ice skating rinks and that is only mentioning a few of the attractions. It had an array of amazing restaurants, shows ranging from comedy through to musicals and a jazz club ( where Jen and Simon first met on the 31st May 2015 on the Oasis of the Seas).
This was set to be a fairytale wedding from the beginning with no stone left unturned. The lovely couple choose this ship as they had met on the Oasis of the Seas and travelled together on the Allure of the Seas previously, and wanted to complete the trio by getting married on the Harmony of the Seas.
Guests travelled from all over the world including America, Canada, Australia and many other locations to board with a wedding party set to have a magical week.
We were each welcomed to our cabins with personalised letters from Jennifer and Simon making everyone feel excited about the week ahead!
The grand wedding event took place on the 9th January – Day 3 in international waters at Dazzles and the two were married by the ships Captain. Simon stood waiting for his bride with his brother Jamie by his side – his best man. Jennifer’s sister Hayley was the maid of honour. From the moment that Jennifer entered, her groom shed tears of happiness at the sight of his soon to be wife, looking breathtakingly beautiful in her elegant gown on the arm of her father, walking down the isle towards him. Embraces were shared with David, the bride’s father before he handed over his little girl to be given away to the man she would now marry.
The ceremony was full of warmth and emotion with the wedding party made up of the couple’s closest family and friends. Everyone could see their love for each other – a love that will last a lifetime.
Once the ceremony concluded Simon sung to his new bride, “For Sentimental Reasons” once again bringing a tear to many eyes.
The speeches were also full of laughter and tears, both couples being reminded of special times with their families. Jamie, the best man, remarked on many fun adventures involving snake catching, cubby house building and road trips with his brother. Hayley shared her love for her twin sister and how happy she was that she had found Simon. Parents of the bride and groom also offered speeches filled with many tears and laughter relating many lovely moments with their children.
The evening continued to be eventful as we made our way to the reception at Sabor, with a quick stop for everyone to board the carousel. Then we were absolutely filled to the brim with amazing Mexican food -including some of the couple’s favourite dishes! It was a fun-filled, relaxed evening with dancing, mingling and a final speech from the two newlyweds!
Although not all could be present given the distance, the couple knew their friends and family abroad were thinking of them on their special day- this meant so much to them both as mentioned in their speeches.
To finish off the wedding experience, Jennifer and Simon choose to have their location shoot on the last destination stop – Labadee, Haiti. It was an amazing island and full of charming places for their pictures.
They went all the way and hopped into the water in their wedding outfits (albeit Simon cheated and wore board shorts – but trendy ones with a matching bow tie none the less). We were so honoured to be able to photograph this wedding and so happy to have Jennifer in the family now too!
We loved the results from this amazing wedding and have now got the travel bug for more destination weddings! If you are getting married overseas, we would love to talk!
“What the boy felt at that moment was that he was in the presence of the only woman in his life, and that, with no need for words, she recognised the same thing….. There is only that moment and the incredible certainty that everything under the sun has been written by one hand only. It is the hand that evokes love and creates a twin soul for every person in the world. Without such love, one’s dreams would have no meaning.”- Paulo Coelho ( From the Alchemist)
